Title: Blackhawk 49997 ratchet
Post by: jimwrench on October 10, 2011, 09:02:00 PM
Got a 49997 Blackhawk 49997 free wheeling ratchet today. Has Re19287,2003155,1927844 and 1936540 patents and(1)date code.
The circumferential handle rings are different from the longitudinal grooves shown by Alloy. Can someone date this version ?

*sigh* We had this discussion on the old board, because the adjustable drain plug wrench also goes through those handle style changes, but it went poof with the board...

The ring style is after 1946, but a 1 date code would make it 1941, could the 1 be a 7? (1947) that is the last year for the digit codes...and would make sense for the handle style...

(The latest patent is 1935, so that doesn't help much)

jimwrench,

I can't help you with the date, but I can tell you that is one sweet, and possibly rare, ratchet.  Great find.
