Title: Some sort of casting pot or mold.
Post by: toolmiser on February 27, 2016, 09:22:17 AM
This came from my Father in law, he passed last summer.  I suspect it maybe was for making or melting lead for fishing or even hunting purposes. The "bowl" with the pour spout is about 3" diameter.  Not a lot of volume like to melt down scrap lead, and have no idea what the top part is for.  I am sure there are people here who are smarter than I am.

Thanks for any and all ideas.

Looks like an old lemon juicer.

Hello, Bill. I agree with you, a juicer.  And I believe the middle photo shows the correct orientation for use. Regards, Lou

I looked it up on ebay, and it sure looks like you folks are right.  In laws went to a lot of auctions, and Mother in law found a lot of kitchen items.   Not sure where we found this now.   Maybe they weren't aware of what it was either.  It makes sense now that you told me.  It probably has some age to it and looks kind of primitive.    Told my wife she isn't going to get to retire based on this though.  Neat to learn.

info for those who may not have squeezed lemons or oranges, you would cut them in half,  set the fleshy part on the dome and close cover
and squeeze handle while holding over a glass.
