Found a smaller size WEN power saw yesterday at a garage sale. Probably dates to the 50s. I know these are favorites of some of the folks here. Aluminum and with a good cord. Even has a steel carry case, that is hand made, not boughten. If there is interest, will get a pic of it soon.
A handmade metal case sounds pretty cool :)
I know you people like pics, and is a sabre saw not a circular.
Interesting design, looks like it would be comfortable to use and control.
The 909 is a nice saw, but it's hard to get blades - the shank is about midway between the old Black and Decker saber saw shank and a sawzall shank.
It has ten new blades in the case, and,,,, several knife blades. Knife blades for sawing foam? Any ideas?
Cutting a dense material, or a sheet good? Linoleum, leather, fiberboard?
One of the recommended uses of the saw was for leather.
I too have a Wen model 909 sabre saw. I too am having trouble finding new blades for it. I guess I will need to go thru my hoard of blades and see if I can find anything that can be adapted to work. I have been thinking of converting it to a power hacksaw. it's a shame to just let it sit and do nothing.

Can Sawzall blades be ground to fit?
Hello, John. What does the attachment end of the blade look like?

Can Sawzall blades be ground to fit?
Yes. The blade width on the 909 is about midway between sawzall/reciprocating saw blades and 1/4" plain end saber saw ("jigsaw*") blades. Grinding to width doesn't take long, but your choice of sawzall blade styles suitable for a big saber saw is limited.
I owned one, and really liked it, and contemplated making an adapter so it could take saber saw blades. But then I got a Bosch saber saw, and decided to take that project off the list.
*I know, I know; everyone calls them jigsaws now. But I was raised that
this is a jigsaw:

All the ones like in the above picture have always been called scroll saws. The one in the picture I believe was made by one company and had many different names. mine is marked ( DELTA HOMECRAFT ).
