Picked a gents place today and we didn't know what these were. All different sizes. Are the pipe thread chasers?

The wedge-shaped thing on the left is a drift punch. But I don't know what the threaded deals are?

I doubt they are thread chasers because there are no flutes to clear the debris. Other than that I got nothin.

I think that's a handle to tighten the disc's by inserting it into the square notches.

Yes, it fits securely in the notched portions of the rings that have them. This was posted on another forum. Make sense?
"They are bearing lock nuts with a slot. Not modified, since the slots are equally spaced around the outside of a standard bearing nut.
My guess is that they are gauges for measuring threads on a shaft that will use bearing nuts.
The tapered thing looks like a home-made drift for removing Morse taper drills."

I was thinking a bearing locknut too but the slot didn't seem right. A regular bearing locknut that I've seen used doesn't have the slot. There would have been a washer under the nut that has tabs on it the you can bend up into one of the slots to lock the nut in position to maintain the bearing preload/adjustment. Like a front wheel bearing on older cars but not a castle nut and cotter pin.

So could they be simply to measure the threads where a bearing locknut would then be utilized as the user suggested? That really doesn't actually make sense to me................

You originally guessed pipe thread chasers.
I'll guess chaser for bearing locknut shaft. they do get messed up.
With the slot cut in it , it would hard to tighten without spreading.

It doesn't make sense to me either. If you Google "bearing nut" and look at the images none of the images show one that is slotted through like these are so I don't know what there intended use is.

All of these said "Patent Pending" on the underside. Unfortunately, no other markings were present. To me, that eliminates them being chasers right? Wouldn't you think the thread/pitch would be stamped in them if that was their purpose?

did you check the edges carefully for any markings ?
do you remember seeing anything at his place that could have been related to those ?

I cannot say I checked them "carefully." He purchased them at a sale so they were not in their original environment when I saw them this weekend.

That's a good observation Bill, I think you may be onto something. I also don't think I mentioned that the inner threaded portions are different sizes on each piece.

Except for the split they remind me of a stem bearing retaining nut on motorcycle forks.
