Title: Is this a purpose-made anvil stand? Or what was it originally for?
Post by: Twilight Fenrir on July 14, 2016, 06:21:07 PM
I saw this little stand, with a RR "Anvil" on top of it for sale in a guys yard for $40. I figured, what the heck, and picked it up. It's got a pretty neat little diamond-pattern engraved into both the front, and the back. (it's more intricate than it looks in the picture) It's remarkably light, despite being cast iron. If it weren't so clumsy, I could probably pick it up one-handed.... which inclines me to think it's not really an anvil stand :P Maybe a grinder stand? Thoughts?

That's a cool stand. Based on your comment about it's weight, I doubt it was made as an anvil stand. As an anvil stand it would need to be more massive all around. With the legs spread they way they are it suggests the worker wouldn't have been standing up close to it, like for a grinder. But I actually don't have a clue.
