Hello, I found this tool today, but I am at a loss once again to find another to compare to. It is stamped DIAMALLOY DULUTH U.S.A. L R 58 with the horseshoe / diamond stamp. I am going to call this a Brake Key Pliers. Is the LR for lock ring? Regards, Lou

I've most often seen it as a tool for removing lock rings from differentials; no reason it wouldn't work on certain types of brakes, too.

I usually use them on transmissions for the bearing snap rings.
I have used them to spread the clips on emergency brake levers.
