Title: Clamps & Pliers
Post by: lptools on August 05, 2016, 05:09:38 PM
Hello, i found these today. The 2 at top I am calling some type of clamp. The 2 show the min. & max. opening width. Overall length at the top is 7-1/4" with an opening of 6-1/4", the next one is 5-1/2" overall, and is open to 4-1/2". Former owner was a woodworker, clock maker, tinkerer. The pliers at bottom are 6-7/8" long, bending or wire forming pliers? I was told possibly for manual typewriter repair? Thanks, Lou

Those bottom pliers look like a handy way to cut Triplex wire all at once... but they're not big enough, so I have no idea :P

I think the bottom ones are wire bending pliers.

I think I have something very much like those bottom pliers.  I think they are used to cut the metal bands sometime used strap lumber or other loose items together.

Those are 3 prong benders.  I have 3 sets, and used them for adjusting manual typewriter typebars.  Don't use them much anymore...
Useful to straghten or bend

Hello,Thanks for the info. I found a website featuring manual typewriters, and tools used for repair. The pliers were in one of those groups of tools. Now if I could figure out those clamps!!!!!!!! Regards, Lou

How long are the clamps?  They look like the clamps on the sides of some snare drums.  My Dad had 35 drums in the house when he died including about 15 snare drums (he was a drummer).  Being the flea market dealer, I had the great joy of getting rid of them.  To make the task even more enjoyable, I had to split the money 6 ways with my siblings.

Hello, wvtools. You are correct, it is a Snare Drum Claw Hook & Rod Assembly. Thanks, Lou
