Way back on about Aug. 1 2012 I posted a video of a tool I had bought at a yard sale. I had no idea what it was, I am a sucker for anything mechanical.(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/lugnut/th_Twistermathing.mp4) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/lugnut/Twistermathing.mp4) well this week on Aug 2 2016 I found out what the heck it is. We was visiting the Columbia Maritime Museum in Astoria, Or. and while wandering around I noticed this thing that looked very like something I had seen before. It was just like the one I have. It was used to wind the cord onto a fishing net making needle. Now I have to make a needle and see if I can make it work.

Cool! thanks for bringing it back up with the answer.

I took a bunch of photos of what the wood needles or shuttles look like and as soon as I manage to make one, I will see if my winder works and will post a video of it.
