I have a odd feeling about this found at rummage sale 4 7/8th long same on both sides, very light, smooth. ?????
-
playing around with this ,,, really fits in your hand ,,, scratch something
-
been thinking about this..... some type of marking stylus or hand punch for foundry, pottery, leather work????
-
if it's light it's not cast iron! something that opens up a hole larger in a soft fabric or weave of some type?
-
Maybe light and cast iron don't mix  maybe feels balanced might be more appropriate. how about a wire rope fid of some type
-
maybe a peg to temporary hold something?
-
OH I like that idea! In the sixties my sister had this leather hair scrunchy thing that was held with a wood peg. I know, Different but similar. Sometime I'll show you guys this cast iron apple I got....

I think it may be sone kind of fid, for ropework. But most are wood and steel types are generally more like a spike. But I can see it being very useful for large rope.

Kind of looks like a wedge used for the mounting of a blacksmith post leg vise to a stump or work bench, but really it could have been used for many useful jobs with it being the shape it was made in.

Maybe for pressing veneer? Same use as that of a veneer hammer?
