It looks similar to the iron work used to keep the leaves, of a drop-leaf table in the up position.

Hello, I am wondering if that is part of a heavy duty latch? Maybe for a trunk, ice chest? The pins would engage another piece to pull the latch closed? Regards, Lou

How about automotive? Latch for tractor trailer rear doors? Or a hood latch for a large truck, or a hood latch for a piece of heavy equipment?
