Hello, Is this the real thing? Or did someone stick a Herbrand label handle on it? Wood grain look to the metal, plastic end caps, plastic strap handle. Thanks, Lou

Real.

Classy.

I would say real. That wood grain stuff was popular back in the 70's. there are a couple of socket sets in boxes on the bay now that are similarly covered in wood grain.
-
Wood grain goes back to 50's, also. Lots of metal picnic baskets with woodgrain from then. With a yellow base.
Not much Herbrand left by the 70's. I have that script logo that was from near the end. I have it on some other tools from earlier.
That is a nice looking box.

Funny but i didn't notice before that it's got a treasure chest look to it.

Hello, And thanks for all of the replies!!!!!!! The box has a few problems, one of the plastic pieces that hold the end of the strap (looking at box from front) is cracked, it is all there, but in about 4 pieces. There is a chip out of the top of the left side end cap. Both back, bottom corners of the end caps are broken, plastic missing. The hinges are rusty, and the bottom is pitted. I bought this for the Mustang sockets that were in the tray, along with a couple Plomb sockets, didn't know it had the Herbrand label until I got home. Regards, Lou

I wonder from time to time what happened to all the Hisbrand tools...

Have the same box in red. Has the plastic end caps, too fancy looking hinges, and one tab that holds the plastic strap handle is missing. Never seen another like it, til now. And it has HERBRAND on it.
