I have always said Krauter as in sauerkraut
buy maybe krooter? as is rooter?
Krater like crater??

I suspect the spelling is an Anglicization of "Kräuter," in which case Leg17 is close to correct. I will admit I had to look it up, but the pronunciation is close to the sound in "boiling," but a little tighter.
