Friend found this and we want to know what it is.
Does it make a noise when the crank is turned?
Are there any names, patent dates or numbers, logos, or any kind of marks to get us started. Where did it come from? Sometimes the origin is a help...sometimes not.

Or pasta/dough was what I was thinking.
I was told it makes a "whirring" noise when cranked.

That was my thought. Could cut taffy strips into bites. I'd eat some if you cleaned it up.
is it all steel ? or are some parts brass.
Google image search Thomas Mills Kiss Knocker. It cuts taffy.
It sure looks like that taffy cutter - thanks chips!
I'll have to get a photo from my friend of the other side to confirm.
Can of Labatt Blue for scale. I think me and your friend would get along just fine.
