Hey all, first time poster here.
I picked up this tool at a yard sale for 1 dollar, no idea what it is or what it does. I attached some pics.
Any info is appreciated!!
Thanks
Dave
Haven't seen that exact design before, but based on the jaws, likely a chain breaker. For opening links on roller link chain (like bicycle chain).
(Based on the size, probably for somewhat bigger than bicycle chain, like motorcycle...or machine)
that makes perfect sense.
Thanks for the fast reply!!
The guy who sold it had a few different kinds of lawn mowers and snowblowers, and also some old school motorcycles and mopeds. I should have asked what it was, but the wife was hurrying my along, trying to keep me away from all the good stuff!!
Rusty is right on it presses the rivets out of the chain bob w.l
It is one of the better designs in my experience with motorcycles for many years. Made by several manufacturers, mostly Japanese and Taiwanese.
I got plenty of practice using one of those. I worked in a power transmission warehouse in my High School days. Most roller chain is riveted, but specialty chains are made with cotter pins or roll pins.

Yes indeed. I just looked at one of these on eBay this morning.
