I have posted a picture of this wrench on The Garage Gazette as I cannot downsize pictures for this site. It is listed under the "Collectable" tools. Picked it up at a farm auction recently and cannot find anything on it. Take a look if you have time.

(http://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?number=1401956&typeCode=0 ) BONNELL SURE GRIP No. 1 PATENTED & the maker remains unidentified -- at least as far as I know.

Since my wrench says "Not Patented" would that mean it was produced before the patent date? Do you have any idea the value of such a wrench? Since the end is strange with the winding rod I figured it was damaged and almost passed it up.

Looks more like "No 1 Patented" to me.

that is a great find, I have never seen one before. you did right by grabbing it, as the old saying goes:
' HE WHO THINKS LONG, THINKS WRONG. "
I also agree with Yadda & Mikeswrench on it saying NO.1 on your wrench.

Guess you guys are correct, it does look more like No. 1 patented the more you look at it. As I had never seen it before I almost passed it up. At the auction about 10 items were on a table and the auctioneer called for "choice". Some one got choice for $25.00 and it went on (I didn't bid as I thought it was broken). When choice got down to $5.00 I still wasn't involved, but after it was still on the table I took second choice for $5.00. Now I'm glad I did, but still thought it was broken until I saw the patent picture.
