Picked up this wrench the other day. Anyone know this makers mark? I believe the GDR stands for East Germany. Just wondering if it a military item. Thanks.

GDR stands for German Democratic Republic.

The wrench is a pipe tongs widely used outside the U.S., based on J.P. Johansson's Swedish patent  of 1888, updated in 1912 (http://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?number=36093&typeCode=0&country=se ).
