Recently I bought a Disston saw 16" in a local charity shop. Paid € 2.50.
A rare find on this side of the Atlantic.
Think I leave the saw in the current state.

What is the TPI?
At that length would that be considered a panel saw or a "tool box saw"?
-
Mike, it's 10 TPI, but I know little about saw types.

I don't know much about saws either but with that medallion it is an old one that was made before "& Son or & Sons".

For medallion styles use this link.

Looks like 1917 - 1940 so I guess it isn't as old as I first thought.
-
Lewill2, thanks for the information.
It is a 13/16" medallion with "PHILA"on it, and D-8 on the etch.
According to the medallion styles link, the saw dates from the period 1928 - 1940.
Still about 70 years old.

Lou, that's nice to hear.
Thought such saws are very common in the US.
I actually did not dare to show the saw on this forum.

Short saws like that are not nearly as common as I wish they were, at least in my neighborhood. I'd love to find one of those.

That is a nice saw and I'm with Bill on that...would like to see one in the wild here. I don't think anyone here has a problem with you showing a saw (at least i sure hope not).
-
Great find and even better buy! It would have followed me home too!
-
Henri, we welcome any tool pictures.

Sorry for showing up late to the party. Nice saw. Over here we call short saws panel saws and also carpenter's toolbox saws. I find these short saws handy to use around the workshop--especially for quick crosscuts.
-
Jim, never too late to react.
All suggestions are welcome.

The short ones seem to be kind of scarce. I have seen exactly one. I got it for $5 and sold it right away. Probably too cheap as quick as it went.
Nice find Henri! and an excellent price.
