Have no idea what this tool is designed for. When ringman handed it to me he said "what is this?" With no noticeable hesitation I said "Its a rhubarb knife" Anyone know what it really is ? I have no clue.
Well, if it works well for cutting rhubarb, then it must be a rhubarb knife!
Bill, now thinking how nice it would be if someone walked in with a slice of strawberry/rhubarb pie right now.
Never used such a knife for the job (usually just some banged up old kitchen knife). If I saw one on my flea market rounds, I'd be hesitant to even call it a knife.
??? possible it may be a corn stalk cutter or tobacco leaf cutter. ???
Rhubarb knife reminded me that I have a wooden knife I figured was a butter knife, but I was later told it was for lettuce. I never heard that you shouldn't use a metal knife on lettuce.
No idea what it's original purpose was but, like you, I would have bought it.
Maybe some type of asparagus knife?
