Title: Buffum Tools

 I like Buffum Tools and am willing to overlook their nasty old symbols. If you have some of their tools and don't want them contaminating your other tools I would love to take them off your hands by trade or barter. Heres a photo of a pair of recently acquired pieces.

Research the swastika symbol and you will find a deep history of it as a good luck symbol in many cultures, all predating Adolf Hitler. Buffum used it before Nazi Germany ruined it for modern times.

I have a book of stories by Rudyard Kipling, and on the binding is a swaztika, which was a symbol of the printing company, 1915.  The Navajo tribe also used the symbol, a very long time ago.  Is just a symbol, but will throw up a red flag as long as we remember the 1940s.

 Man would I like to see a catalog of all the tools the Buffum Tool Co. produced . Today I acquired this wrench which I normally see marked Ford or Moore drop forge and it turned out to be Buffum. Friend showed me a Deere Mansur wrench and stated he had bought it at auction with another wrench that had a swastika on it. Didn't need another Deere Mansur but made him an offer he didn't refuse on the Buffum. Made my day.

Here are some more Buffum tools. These seem to be uncommon around here.

Note: My photos placed on this site can now no longer be opened using "Microsoft Office Picture Manager (default).  Instead, click on "Other" and select "Windows Photo Gallery". Then the photo can be opened to full size.

 Very nice condition. I don't want yours as that would be envy but I'd like to have a pair like them. Tried the Louisiana,Mo public library for Buffum info but pretty sparce.

The December 2011 MVWC  Newsletter which went into the U.S. Postal Service today has a page of info on Frank Buffum  & including a 'Catalog of Copyright Entries'  notice that the company published a 290 page catalog.  They  even made a printing press for postcard size pieces.  It is amazing what will turn up using "advanced search" in google / books.
