Welcome to Tool Talk. Sometimes we can figure out an item by learning what it came with. Did you find it with other items?

First picture looks like you have more than one of them. Reminds me of a swagging tool to crimp connectors.

I posted for my 75yrs., life-long, full-time machinist friend, who has no idea as to what they are. He bought a box lot at another machinist’s estate auction. There were several pieces of similar items of different manufacture (w/ less marking) but basically the same. Thank you in advance.

Wonder if roller chain is involved.

Wonder if roller chain is involved.
I had the same thought.
Perhaps some sort of chain or sprocket holder, holding the sprocket in one place to check timing , tension, or whatever ?

What is the pitch on this guy? If I remember correctly roller chain sizes are in increments of 1/4". RC 80 has a 1" pitch,RC 100 is 1 1/4 " and so on. I think it may change to smaller increments when you get down to the smaller chain, like bicycle chain etc.

Maybe some kind of chain tong part.

It would make more sense if the 'teeth' were concave, though.

From eBay--- Milling Machine Hold Down Clamps. Not mine, I just stumbled on them. I think the sellers title was "shop made hold down clamps".

From eBay--- Milling Machine Hold Down Clamps.
That it's on eBay doesn't prove that it's an accurate description, but I'd been wondering if it was a machine tool hold-down, and the t-nuts and clamping bolts included with that eBay offer lead me to think the seller is right.

looks like something Guido and Tony would curl up in their hands and hit you in the face with if you forgot to make your protection money payment.
?

I like the answer from John D. I guess you have to be careful with those ebay sellers :-) Regards, Lou

I think John D. nailed it! Thank you.

Hello, Laxarus. I f you plan to use those, the nuts that fit the slot of a milling machine are pretty easy to find. The round piece (rod??) with the hole at 90° may be a tough one. Regards, Lou
