Not really sure what it is, found it in a barn sale. I’m thinking prob not a tool but maybe a part for something? Maybe someone here will recognize it.

Oi go along with EvilDr on this one. It was probably attached to a wood base at one time.

Thanks, Miter Box is a winner... I found one like it online. Looks to be a Merit miter box

Stanley made one like that, too. Here's a picture of the full box (although I think the wood parts are a reproduction):

Not the greatest design ever conceived, but perhaps better than the wooden trough that was the standard inexpensive miter box at the time.
