Title: A poor quality vise grip.
Post by: coolford on July 16, 2019, 04:01:20 PM
This tool was in a box lot and at first I thought it might be out of a set for a kid.  It may be, but it is so poorly made that I even discarded that idea.  Maybe it is a shop project, except that on the bottom of the lever is the word "Japan".  It is made of metal so thin that it was probably made without machinery and the rivets actually stick out on the back side.  Now for the jaws, they are soldered onto the rest of the sheet metal.  I tried it on a nut and it bent the frame.

Amazing how poor quality some of that early "JAPAN" cheap stuff was ..  (stick it in a plastic pouch & sell it through "dime stores" or those "inexpensive tools" mail order ads that ran in magazines of the era).
