Title: Daimler tool
Post by: latinporsche911 on July 25, 2019, 09:33:51 PM
Hello everyone...  hope all are having a good day

I have a question that I have been searching the internet and have not found much info.  There is a book out about the history of Daimler-Benz, so I am waiting to get it and read about it.  But not sure it will have much about this wrench.
It came with a Hazet tool kit that I bought.  I know it does not belong there but its kind of unique so have left it inside.
Please, any information about this tool or where to read more about it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks and best to all
R

Since picture is too large to upload, I will describe it.   On one side it has:
600-38   Gedore-Vanadium   Daimler-Benz G.M.B.

the other side has:
14   GEDORE No. 4 - DIN 837     11

Welcome to Tool Talk !

Find the Introduction Forum and tell us more about yourself and your tool interests.

Your wrench  could be from a Benz tool kit, but I on't know that. Perhaps another member will know.

Resize your picture to about 640 x 480 with any one of several image processors that are available. Or- Email me the picture and I will get it posted for you . nhankamer@papawswrench.com  .

Gedore wrenches weren't uncommon in factory tool kits on German cars back when cars were sold with toolkits.

Some interesting history: https://www.gedoretools.co.uk/the-story-of-gedore/ (https://www.gedoretools.co.uk/the-story-of-gedore/).  I now understand where the "Dowidat" name that I've also seen on some German wrenches comes from.

I always thought it meant if you didn't have the correct wrench, you could make"dowidat" one.

lol

Sort of like the joke about how Datsun got it's name.
A German auto maker was talking to his Japanese counterpart at a car show. He asked the Japanese owner how long before his new car brand would be out. He said, "Two weeks." And the German replied, "Dat-soon?"
