There is an enormous industry in china counterfieting old collectable coins, beware....

I am not a coin collector, but I think that is a Lady Liberty , also known as a Morgan.
Google those terms. It is a very common coin, unless it has the word "PEACE " under the eagle, then it may be worth more. I didn't find any reference to value over $12-$20 dollars.
The value of a Liberty silver dollar is based on condition, but all silver dollars have a minimum melt value. The melt value for a Morgan silver dollar is $9 to $11. Any coins with a Carson City mint mark are worth $60 to $2000 depending on the condition. The most valuable coin of this series is the 1893-S, worth more than $3,000 in mint condition.

EDIT- Maybe not so common, I better take that back now that I read the OP better. 1893?- well then she may have something there.

That is the correct place for the mint mark, and that is what cc would be for, yes...
1893 is the last year for CC btw...

Imagine what the person it was intended to go to is going through about now/ bob w.

Just as Rusty said: Right place, and that's CC for Carson City. Rather nice condition, too.
