When I post i get this reply and I have to post again for it to take bob w.
Your request timed out. Please retry the request.
Just the way the software works. Best way to make a long post is to type it out on "Notepad", read it over, make additions and/or corrections, then paste it into the post or reply box.

ME TOO! Frustrating to lose a large post... what's with that?
If you hit back it will return you to the message you typed then ik you hit post it will take bob w.
Seems to happen to me when the attachment is too large, I have learned to copy the text before I try to post. just in case.
Brian L.
and I just had it time out on me with no attachment... Hmmm.
Brian L.
I have notice some slow loading, but no time outs.
I've had problems from time to time even on short ones. I highlight and copy the long ones. Then if theres a problem all I have to do is paste and find the pictures again. It seems to be more likely to lose one before noon for some reason.
If having to repost is the worst thing that happens to me that day it has been a good day!
I get big white page that says cannot find web-page, I wait a few minutes and try again
I type so slow that I'm always in time out. When I finish typing, I highlight the post, then hold down Control and hit c. Then when I hit arrow back and I lose my post, I click on the page and hold down Control and hit v.
papaw, the board has a new annoying 'feature', it is giving me bad internal links every once in a while,
like:xhttp://www.papawswrench.com/NSgfK/vboard/index.php?board=17.0
Grrr
PS: *every post* now times out, even trivial 2 line replies....
I have also been trying to post for the last several days without any luck. After I push the post button it takes a very long time then (cannot display webpage) I push Diannose connection & it says (Papawswrench will not accept it.) Not sure what is going on.
I have passed these posts along to the one guy I know that can figure it out for us.
I normally use AOL for my web browsing at the house and since last week I can't access this site anymore from my AOL account. I have to go thru internet exployer. The AOL keeps trying to load the page and never gets there. It finally times out. Anybody else having problems getting to this site?
im not a computer know it all but something that has helped me access othersite and help me with speed, and posting are these..
first are you using internet explorer as your browser ?? if so download firefox and use that instead. ie is a horribal browser and one of the slowest around.. 2 are you using dial up or cable/highspeed internet ? if so that also might be some of the problem.....
And now that I questioned about it, it started working again, go figure....
Gremlins are like that, when you go looking for them, they hide ;P
It has been behaving for me today as well, perhaps someone fixed something....
Good work papaw! (Whatever you did, bugging tech support, dancing naked in the full moon....)
I did nothing! Nothing , I tell ya!
Well Papaw keep on doing it.
I guess Papaw needs to start doing nothing again, my AOL access died again.......... Keeps trying to load and finally times out. Crap

If I use the AOL browser I can't connect to ToolTalk. IF I use regular IE it's good. It is also fast.
PS I just got the "timed out" message when I tried to post using IE.
I use Firefox and have none of the issues above.
I have never had time outs before no matter how long I took "comleting" a post. But last couple of posts have timed out! I have found that by refreshing the page, then clicking "try again box" it Posts!? Something has changed?
Graeme
We are not sure what is going on. It comes and goes, so it may be a server issue. I hope Go-Daddy straightens it out.
I use firefox and, other than some slightly slow loading sometimes, no problems.
I sometimes have a page take 15 or 20 seconds to load, but not often, not even every day. Once in a great while, I'll get a page saying 'papawswrench not available' or something to that effect, but that happens even less frequently than the delays.
I have a cable connection and use Firefox. I haven't experienced any timeouts while posting and can't think of any other problems I've had visiting the site. No post timeouts and I do sometimes start posts and take a long time to finish while I hunt down the picture I want to use. I'm just offering the info for comparison purposes.
Security software and Internet Explorer are likely suspects. I agree with the Firefox suggestions also.
>Once in a great while, I'll get a page saying 'papawswrench not available'
There are DNS issues, I don't kno if that's what's aggrivating the forum software tho...
Non-authoritative answer:
www.papawswrench.com canonical name = papawswrench
papawswrench.com
primary name server = ns71.domaincontrol.com
--
> ns71.domaincontrol.com
Server: ns71.domaincontrol.com
Address: 216.69.185.46
DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.

This isn't helping...
rusty, I have no idea what all that is supposed to mean. Can you break it down a little? What is it that you are pointing out?
I do see that the DreamHost donation link is dead.
We are not hosted on Dreamhost any longer. That is where the meltdown of earlier this year originated. We have been on GoDaddy since the restart.
> I have no idea what all that is supposed to mean.
Well, it was more for the benefit of whoever papaw may have looking....
but, ok
Short version:
:DNS request timed out.
: timeout was 2 seconds.
Somewhere a server is configured to give up after waiting only 2 seconds,
this is far to short , it *very often* takes more than 2 seconds for something to happen
on the internet. When that machine gives up after two seconds, the web page you are trying to look at fails to work...
>Non-authoritative answer
This is more complicated, and more serious, the server that is supposed to know where papawswrench.com is on the internet, is claiming that some other server is responsible for that information. This can cause all kinds of strange and bizzare things to happen...
(DNS is kind of the address book of the internet, when you want to get to Joe's Pizza, you ask someone and they tell you it's at 71 main street. When you want to get to papawswrench a machine on the internet tells your computer where it is on the internet , that machine is the nameserver...)
I'm having a totally different problem. When anyone posts an attachment and I click on it, to enlarge, it so my tired old eyes can make out details, all I get is columns of numbers. Does that have anything to do with the server, or is it in my set?
Are you using an old version of internet explorer? I seem to remember that bug. It is because the browser isn't understanding that the server is sending a picture, it thinks it is getting a web page, so it tries to display it as a bunch of goobldy gook text...
You could try this, instead of just clocking on the picture, right click to get a menu, and pick 'Open Link"
Thanks Rusty that works. I went back to Branson's post on scrapers and right clicked clicked on new tab and it worked. Now I have a lot of photos to look at.

I figured. I just thought it might serve as a reminder to edit the page :)
