Title: Hardware
Post by: lptools on March 29, 2020, 06:16:36 PM
Hello, I know what these are, and they were removed from a building that was built in the 1920's . The offset end would be seen on the exterior of the building , and the cap would hide the hex nut on the interior. Regards, Lou

For bolting floor and ceiling joists / timbers thru concrete and brick walls is my guess ? I believe I saw them on episodes of This Old House TV show over the years.

Hello, EVILDR235. Good guess , but that is not it. They do go through wood, but the wood is not structural, and they work in pairs. Lou

Hello, Guys. All great guesses, but you're not there yet. I took a picture of the ones that are still there, but the photo is too big for this page. (time for clues) So, if you're hooked, and still hanging around, this is your window of opportunity.     Regards, Lou

Hello, Guys. I need to bring my digital camera with me to work tomorrow, the only way I know how to downsize the photo for Tool Talk. more clues> The building is 4 stories high, too high to work on off of a ladder, not high enough to warrant a swing scaffold!! Regards, Lou

Hello, International3414. You got it!!! The window washers would clip their safety belt on to these, pretty secure, bolted through the jamb, but still scary!! Regards, Lou
