I dug this out of a box of misc. No idea when or where I got it. I checked DATAMP and apparently it"s a specialty automotive tool but they say it was never know to have been produced. I disagree. My thoughts are it's maybe for chiseling apart seized exhaust systems or trimming body panels or repairs to them. What do you folks think.

Looks like a muffler cutter. Peels the inlet or outlet off the pipes by slicing.

Hello, Gibsontool. Maybe not produced under that patent. Geneg has it , looks like a K-D Muffler & Tailpipe Chisel, the inward grind on yours looks like a K-D 2072, they also made a 2073 that looked more like a chisel point. Regards, Lou

Thanks for the input Lou but who or what is Geneg. I looked on the KD website and they show nothing under 2072 or 2073. What am I missing ? I'm not very computer literate so bear with me. Regards, Jim.

Hey Jim,
It looks like this was discussed before.

It turned out to be a bushing remover.

Here is the page from the 1986 K-D catalog that I used for reference. I am a carpenter by trade, who likes buying mechanic's tools, I would probably find a way to use that for woodworking :cheesy:

I think I own one of these. I picked it up at an estate sale. Now if I can just figure out where I put it.

My mind must be slipping. I totally forgot I had posted this 5 years ago. Thanks to Don for reminding me.

To all of you members who read thru this post. I apologies, I can't understand how I got things so twisted around, and I had already posted this item 5 years ago. Again I'm sorry. Jim.

no need to apologize.
