I have not been able to find any info on this tool. I can make out Trade Mark USA. Also what looks like S H Co. ? Smith Hemenway? Also a possible Dec. patent date?? Help!!!!!!!

I may have led everyone astray with my title!! Northwoods got me thinking about this tool in use, not very effective for any heavy nailing. Cigar box hammer?? Maybe???
