Nothing is sacred. But, we knew that. Still, kinda breaks your heart, don't it?

The failure of SK more or less predetermined this tho, where else are they going to get them? There's no one left, cept snappy, and it will be a cold day in hell before snappy stoops to selling their tools through the retail chain ; P

I had hopes of the Sk - Ideal thing, but I havn't heard a peep since, I have no idea where Sk is selling these days.....

At least they aren't making them in China and printing USA on the package like someone else did... ; P

>stirring the pot a bit i see ?..

Always ;P

> call them youll get any warranty info you need

A large part of my working tools are SK, including all of the ratchets, oddly, I have never needed warranty service....

> advance auto does online

Wonder if they sell them in the stores? There is one near here, I will have to look.

I wish NAPA would pick it up, there are NAPA's everywhere here...

It was nice when the local hardware store carried Sk, I could go over and get a wrench or oddball socket in 20 minutes, but alas, they switched to chinese make believe brand name tools a year or so ago :(

So, what happens to all the people working at the USA factory that used to make the C-man tools? They just get kicked out the front door?
They have all the forges and dies sitting there, all the people trained and ready to work. Wonder why they don't keep making the tools and stamp another name on it? There's gotta be a market for made in America tools, with all the griping that's going on.

I finally got my ratchet kits from S-K. Well over a year and a half and many phone calls. If you want to send a tool back for warranty they charge $5.00 per item.I have seen Craftsman hand tools made in Asia for awhile now. Snap On makes Kobalt tools at Lowe's and most of the Blue Point is made in Taiwan. You really need to look at the labels to find out where it's made.

I bought some Snap On brake service tools new from a guy at a a yard sale for a buck a piece in the Quad Cities a spring or two ago.  NO mention on the black handles whether they were made in China or US.  Most of the Snap On stuff I see in Ace Hardware and Sears is made in China IIRC, but I could be wrong on that.

This has been true for a while, but it is only Snappy squeezing another buck out of their branding, not wise IMHO, but the way they wanted it I suppose.

True enough, there have been Craftsman branded tools made in China for quite some time now. The basic line of raised panel ratchets have not. That is a new development and was kind of what I meant to show. The Made In China mark on the Slim Profile ratchets is new too. I had hoped they would keep at least a few things made in USA.
SK had been in a 'transitional' period for quite a while now and just recently got things settled and back underway. Maybe the trouble you had was related to that?

SK Tools begins first shipments from new facilities

The tools — many manufactured using original dies from now-shuttered SK Hand Tool plants in Chicago and Ohio — are being produced in a newly-built, state-of-the-art headquarters in Sycamore, IL, and in Colorado Springs, CO.

“SK is an iconic American brand that we are proud to continue manufacturing in the United States,” said Doug Spitler, Vice President/General Manager of SK Hand Tool. LLC. “We’re excited to show mechanics the SK brand is alive and well, and in fact, better than ever.”

IDEAL has fully leveraged its considerable resources into assuring the success of its SK acquisition. Along with building a new 130,000-square foot facility in Sycamore, it has invested in technically advanced metalworking, and CNC machinery to guarantee superior tool quality, and has refurbished essential equipment salvaged from SK plants. Modern management practices, such as small batch and one piece flow manufacturing, are being applied, resulting in world-class quality and on-time shipping capabilities to SK dealers and distributors, and ultimately, greater end-user satisfaction.

SK Hand Tool, LLC, as the company is now known, will manufacture the full line of SK brand tools that professional mechanics continue to demand. Mechanics can continue to expect the superior corrosion resistance of the SuperKrome finish, the excellent grip and torque of the SureGrip screwdrivers and the quality and variety of the SupetSet™ socket sets.

I only see a flashlight, tote bag and some other knick knacks at that link.
I haven't seen any Snap On hand tools at my local Sears or Aces, other than the 'non-tool' type stuff.

I just came back from Sears to replace or get a ratchet kit for a new 1/4" ratchet that they don't make anymore. So the gave me a new slim line fine tooth ratchet instead. It say's USA on it.The guy at the counter said that is one of the last USA made ratchet they have in 1/4" drive. He mentioned that they were checking out some of the new imported stuff and said there is quite a difference in the quality compared to the USA made Craftsman tools. He seemed kinda bummed out over it.If the USA made companies want to keep the loyal tool customers they step up their customer service and not deter customers with warranty charges as in S-K.

I bought this Craftsman set for my younger son on Black Friday- $149.95! And without taking all the tools out of the plastic wrap, I saw the ratchets and sockets were all marked Made In USA. Christmas morning when he puts it all together we will see.

I have a lot of trouble getting around on the Sears web site. It seems like almost everything I'm looking for is 'between the lines'  :)

The 10 year old 'new' building that Sears built to open a 'hardware and appliance store', closed it's doors about a week ago. Got some super bargains when stuff was 50-90 percent off. Another bunch of crappie jobs gone.

When the Sears Hardware closed by me,I noticed that they raised all the prices on the tools before they discounted them while liquidating them.I liked the Sears hardware.I prefer it to Home depot. There is only two Sears Hardware left in the Buffalo area and their not near me.
