I was getting my RR wrenches ready for sale when I came across this one.
made by Trimont
labelled "perfect handle"
but the entire wrench is metal not a bit of wood.

can anyone tell me about this? did Trimont buy the rights to use the name?

I'm not sure if they bought the rights or the company. However, I have about 10 Trimont perfect handle wrenches of different types and sizes, both all metal and wood handles.
Cope states Trimont Mfg took over the Perfect Handle wrench line in 1930 after H. D. Smith failed.
Trimont Manufacturing was advertising "Perfect Handle" wrenches as early as 1935:
