I've been in my garage for a week now cleaning my tools and reorganizing my tool box.It seems that there is more of a mess than when I started.I have over 15 3/8" ratchets and always grab the same 2 every time.I have so many projects started and garden equipment tore apart waiting for parts that I don't know where to put all of them.I'm too embarrassed to show a pic of my heck hole of a garage. If someone can post a pic of a messier garage than mine I give away a nice old time wrench.
I'll shoot some of mine tomorrow, even though it will embarrass me.
Don't have a garage, I have a carport...
do i win ?

Not a bad contender I admit, but I think my garage would be in the running.
I'll take a photo when i get back home.

This is the before picture. The after one,,, I'll get back to you. This is actually an end of winter pic, a whole cold winter of not working in there, just stashing stuff, and its 40 feet long, the photo telelscopes the mess, making it look almost as bad as it is.
I suppose my shop is fairly organized in some respects.... I have different "racks of wood" for 1-10 inches, 10-18 inches, 18-24 inches, up to three feet... then, it goes to the main wood rack... which is generally 4- 12 ft. pieces of lumber. As for the rest of my shop......... it's a MESS!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm doing my best to organize stuff. The only thing I'm good at is chopping, ripping, jointing, planing, and taking pieces of wood which are perfectly dimensioned and labeling them accordingly.
As for my shop, that's as organized as I get.
Cheers, bird.
Here are four views of my messy shop-
I'd have to say that John K is in the lead. When I first saw the pic,I thought something collapsed. Pawpaw- I can see a tool box and some empty space.Dustin-I can see floor.
Oh boy ! I am so relieved now that I am not the only one that has a place for everything and everything all over the place.
Here is my shop...

This is as messy as it gets? But you can still find things...
I'll shoot mine tomorrow with all the tools on the floor.

I'll shoot mine tomorrow with all the tools on the floor.
Reminds me of my first smithing teacher's description of another smith's shop:
"A place for everything, and everything on the floor."
"Gravity works!"

Branson he must have seen my shop. He wasn't from Alabama was he? That reminds me of how my drafting instructor told us about, how they wrote dimension instructions, when he first came to Huntsville. Before Dr. Von Braun came, Huntsville was a sleepy little cotton town and the machine shops mostly did automotive work. They couldn't hold the close tolerances that the space industry needed. My instructor said that they would write, "beat to shape, file to fit."
I don't dare show the whole shop, but this is the 'recently acquired, unsorted pile', or one of them anyway. I especially like the PowerKraft box, the picture doesn't do it justice.

Crapppy pics but you can see the "look" I was going for...

So, I always feel better when I "straighten " out the garage, it's cheap theraphy to keep me happy. I find the more cluttered my garage is, the more cluttered my life is. My wife finds this a little strange, but has put up with it 32 years.

RedVice, I can see clean floor space.

Ok here's my shop' I was sorting my tools when I had to have my operation and with this chest catheter I can't bend over. Soooo I just have to wait for my son to come and play tools with me.

Horse/mule drawn IHC Fertilizer Knockerbox in the foreground with my blacksmith blower and cone mandrel in the background.
Stoney, that looks pretty familiar to me. You got more wrenches, though. A lot more wrenches. I'm making up for that lack with hammers, saws, and axes. I think I see a post drill in there. Mine's still in storage, but my cone mandrel is taking up room, just like yours. Not an easy thing to find, at least in California.
"beat to shape, file to fit." With wood, it's cut to size, beat to fit.
RedVise -- I see floor. Kxxr -- I see so much bench that I can tell what kind of wood it is.
Yes Branson there is a post vice there somewhere and a pair of rail carriers, 3 wooden toolboxes, a Snap-On bottom and 2 middle, Mac top boxes and maybe Jimmy Hoffa. KatBird saw what I was posting and said your posting that!!!!!!!!!!
