Title: Unknown big adjustable pliers

Can't quite make out the makers name, perhaps a triangle symbol with letters inside, then the name beginning with an A? Big beastie at 17 inches long. Any thoughts?

Not that eBay sellers are necessarily authorities on what function tools performed or were intended for.

Ashcroft Co made several pipe tongs, Browns patent, November 30, 1858, November 30, 1872, and November 4, 1873.

You would think blacksmiths would buy pipe tongs, but they are very hard to sell.  I purposely avoid buying them now.

I believe it is a pipe wrench.  This was before the Stillson pipe wrench was invented.
