Title: Disston D8 Ripsaw
Post by: Yadda on March 07, 2026, 10:51:15 PM
This is a Disston and Sons D8 ripsaw.  The blade is 28 inches.  The badge, the domed screws, and the extra hole on the handle seem to indicate this saw was manufactured between 1880 and 1886ish, but I could be completely off base in my analysis. I used info gleaned from the Disston Institute treasure trove on Disston saws. The upper horn is lost to time, but I hope to repair it. The handles on these models are made from Apple wood.

I recently got a nice auger bit that is designed for those safety saw screws with the brass in the middle
