Will it make firewood? Or is it good for woodworking projects?

I think that it will be both, fire wood and projects.

You may be able to get someone to do it for you for free if you let them take the wood.

Not sure how to find people to do that but you could put a post for FREE WOOD on craigslist (or something similar).  Just an idea.

I think that it will heat my work shop, and we have two sons-in-law that are just dying to play with
their chain saws.

Think of it as advance seasoning ;P

You can't burn it till it dries out anyhow.....

Even better. Free labor and you get to keep the wood

Be careful falling snags. an 18 year-old young man here is in the hospital with terrible life threatening critical injuries after dropping a dead tree upon himself.

He had Never used a chain saw before.

The 85 year old property owner had bought a new saw at Lowe's, and then spread the word that he needed someone to come over,, start up the saw and go fall a dead Sycamore tree on an acreage next to me.
I heard the saw, thought nothing of it,, as it is common here.
Later in the day, I went over to the "north forty" to check, and that is when I heard the news.
An 18 year old young man was hired, no experience, and got the saw going, and eventually dropped the tree upon himself!

Dumb, liable owner will have hell to pay now.

Bothers me a lot, since I have been around  chain saws and logging for 60 gol-dang years, and this happens so close to me.
I guess you can't fix stupid, no matter how much money some people around here have.

Just Damn.

Just about the biggest mistake I made while cutting down a tree is when the tree hit the ground it kicked back and knocked the 250 gallon propane tank over.
The propane company and I got tank back on the stand before the wife got home.
Tell her how dumb I was ----- NO WAY----

MrChuck, what a sad event!  I hope the young man recovers.  Apparently he had no experience with felling trees, either.  Not even book learning.

"Just Damn" about covers it.

I hired a pro to cut down cut up, split and stack wood from our property all the dead trees( 50 SOME)for half the wood .
they moved in did the job . I have never seen men work like the three did on them trees. everyone had his job. and it did not effect the other men . there were no close calls . every tree fell where it was wanted . they used a excavator with a clam bucket to handle the trees It was like  clock work precision.my wood is piled up un split right now but yhey are comming back one day next week to do it.
they put at least two yearssplit wood up near our house so we should not run out till they get back.they have been hauling their wood with a big dump truck for three days and still havs stacks left
