Title: Fridays auction
Post by: Neals on December 17, 2011, 04:59:03 PM
The little grinder was what caught my eye. It is a Speedo-sharpener featured in the June 1928 Popular Mechanics. A little oil and it is ready to wreck some blades. Unfortunately no keys with the locks.

There you go :)

I always wondered if those things were secretly made by the scissor folks, cause nothing will destroy a pair of scissors faster than that thing.
On the plus side tho, being hand powered, at least it doesn't light up a blade white hot like the newer better electric sharpeners ; P

(There is a fellow at work that sharpens his 2 wood chisels once a week on the bench grinder, I don't think he uses them more than once a week. There is an inch of blue metal at the end...I just smile....)

>Unfortunately no keys with the locks.
Well, there wouldn't be much of a challange if they came with keys would there LOL!
The stamped one probably only has 4 pins.......

They are nothing special. No Name made in Tiawan. Looks like better handles than some. I didn't have a set so should beat the L shaped ones.

Thanks Rusty. Looks like the same ones except mine are SAE. Its a good thing it was some of the other stuff I was after. I'd hate to think I paid $5.00 for those. No Harbour Freight here so probably Walmart or Canadian Tire.
