Title: Lyon, Aurora, Ill. tool carrier
Post by: Wrenchmensch on January 02, 2012, 02:10:01 PM
New Year's Day 2012 I stopped by to look at an advertised box of tools. I bought the box and tools in the box.  After assessing all the tools, I determined that the prize was a Meadville, P-S railroad wrench. I then took a look at the box, and decided it was over 90 years old, the same as most of the wrenches that came in the box.  The box is made of galvanized heavy gauge steel and beautifully constructed. I cleaned up 90 years of oil and dirt in the box with dishwashing detergent, hot water, and a putty knife.  I will probably use the box in the future transporting tools back from acquisition sites.

A neat tool caddy. I wonder if Lyon Workspace Products of Aurora made it. Their web page says they have been in business since 1901, and it looks like something they would make.

I love it!  It could be very handy as a tool tote.
