We headed up into South Central PA after lunch yesterday. I picked up this 4 1/2" Mossberg No 74 bicycle wrench. Why it was named "74", I do not know. It wasn't a patent date, since Mossberg didn't form his Company until 1889. Those of us who have been collecting Mossberg wrenches do know of his focus on quality. http://www.papawswrench.com/vboard/index.php?action=post;board=15.0# This wrench, like some other Mossbergs I have, is marked "Second Quality on the backside.

Dunno, but it's less cryptic than 'X-9' LOL

Mossberg's open end wrench numbers make even less sense, after the first set, numbered, they added more in between sizes, with more numbers, so the sequence of numbers makes no sense related to the sizes at all...
I like that wrench tho, it has all it's nickel, very nice : )
Almost worth venturing out into the 20F weather....
