Hey Guys! Redvice wasn't kidding. We need people to sign up to host a giveaway. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a few duplicate wrenches from that pile you have been meaning to get rid of anyway. I am last on the list. If no one steps up, this will end it for a while. Sign up is above this in the stickies. DO IT NOW!! If you wait until you get back from the outhouse, you'll probably forget. I think, since this started in fall, the BEST week was 18 signups for FREE TOOLS! If you are embarrassed by the publicity, just think how I feel having to do the ceremonial tool dance in front of the fire in the feathered loincloth before selecting a winner!
So endeth the sermon and on to important stuff.
This weeks giveaway is for a 1962-1963 Proto Hand Tools Catalog 80 pages. BUT WAIT! If you act now, before midnight, also included is the Mid Year New Tool 20 page Supplement and that's not all, there is a nice little one page mailer(as advertised in Popular Mechanics) that says if you send $.050 for a catalog, you will receive, at no extra charge, a genuine Proto Pocket Keychain Screwdriver. Well, this tooltalk tool giveaway will NOT be leaving you without the promised goodie. Included in the package at no charge will be a Proto Keychain screwdriver. It's a little newer than the catalog, it says 'Stanley Proto' on it.
Good Luck to all!

Please put me in, I thought that one of two things happened, I thought that whomever wins a giveway would host the next one, in other words dont enter unless you want to give back as well, dosent have to me anything fancy but that seems fair enough.
I also thought that there was a rotation of names that just kept rotating, I was wondering when my turn was coming back again?
I have some more tools to give away and was waiting to do so

We quit that "winner does the next one" a while ago.
I just take volunteers as we go along. I will put you on the list, you need to check the Giveaway Sticky thread. You are scheduled for March 10th now.

Seems it would make things alot easier to.........winner does the next one............You had better take me off the list because I simply will not remember that it is my turn when my turn does come up. I will just stop playing if that is going to be the case because nothin for nothin.
Thanks anyway though
-
1930, I can certainly remind you in advance if that is the case. I hope you'll reconsider participating.
-
Well if thats the case than count me in, not trying to be special but I like everyone else has too much going on already and I dont want to leave myself the opportunity to feel stupid because I did not participate when I said I would. Thats why I mentioned there is no mistaking how you used to have it set-up, when you win you give deal. Thanks again

I'm in. Would love to have that catalog and extra bits. Good stuff.

OK put me in and I'll pay the shipping to Australia.

I've searched, I searched some more, waited a day, and searched again. I can't find any detail on the "giveaway". I'd like to think I'd join if I could understand how this works :)
Any insight would be appreciated. I feel like the new boy at school who doesn't know when break time is.

Look at the "Stickies"- threads that are always on top in a category- You should see one or two about Giveaways.
Couple of years ago, I began a giveaway here on the forum, in which I would give some wrench or tool out of my stash each week to some lucky member who had posted in that week's "Papaw's Crazy Giveaway" thread. It was a blatant attempt at growing the participation of members and attracting new members. That led to members wanting to join in the giving, so we began rotating each week.
One intention is to spread the wealth of old tools around since some of us have duplicates or items we have no need for in our stash. Another is to push each other down the slope by giving something that the winner may not have yet.
In the beginning it was me giving, then when members wanted in, we were having the winner give the next week's prize, but sometimes the winner didn't have anything to give, so we went to volunteers each week.
The current list of givers is here- http://www.papawswrench.com/vboard/index.php?topic=3070.0 (http://www.papawswrench.com/vboard/index.php?topic=3070.0)

Because of the frigid weather here in Wisconsin, I did the ceremonial tool dance in front of the fire in my long handled BVD's and thermal snuggie boots. I did, however, wear my Tooltalk Tee over the ensemble. My wife didn't laugh nearly as hard as last time when I wore the feathered loincloth. But enough about fashion statements.
THE WINNER IS: BATZ!!!! Congratulations!!
-
Alright! An international winner!
Congratulations, Batz!
-
Whoa!
I'm stoked ! I better have a dig around and see what I can find from down under.
