Title: What's Its Age - Weird Snap-On Date Code
Post by: OilyRascal on February 28, 2012, 07:55:50 AM
I have a Snap-On FP-41 Hex Bit socket that I'm struggling with the markings on.  I've found what appears to be two date codes present.  The first represents what is documented to be a 1955 date code (after "Snap-On" and before "FP-41".  The second is 4 much like what is documented as 1954 (after "USA" and before "Snap-On"), but with a bow on the bottom (like a bowl) versus a flat bottom as documented.

Was it common to have two date codes represented on Snap-on tools?  I've now seen two that had duplicate date code.  However, this is the first I've seen that isn't documented exactly as the markings look.

Any insight would be appreciate - meanwhile I dig for more info.

FYI - I did find the tool present in the 1948, 1950, and 1953 catalogs.
