I noticed it. Thought it was pretty interesting but had no idea it would sell for that much. Anybody else have one? Seen one?

This is my first to see, which may explain that price.
quoting from the Craftsman's discussion board:
The 1/2" drive C-97 ratchet along with the whole C series is made by Snap-on. Manufactured for Sears from 1932 - 1935. ......

Also looks like LB had involvement in a similar discussion thread on GJ.

Gang,
The C-98 ratchet posted by kxxr above was likely made by Hinsdale. I have only seen one of these Crafty ratchets in a private collection. But, I have seen several similar looking Hinsdale ratchets.
The C-97 and C-98 ratchets are of totaly different designs and appear be unrelated by OEM.
Why they have similer series or model numbers I do not know and won't speculate.

PowderKeg also pointed out the similarity of the handle on that Craftsman to Hinsdale too Gary.
But DaveTheToolman still thinks it's SO...

Looks like Davethetoolman was the buyer. LG, please let us know when his Craftsman DVD is available. Sounds like the ultimate Craftsman Tool catalog. I hope that he puts it on sale soon.
