We hit the jackpot bigtime on some capentry tools, I just wish they were antique. I was wondering if anyone else buys storage lockers at auction?
-
I haven't seen any auctions around here, but there are a couple that alert me when they are clearing out lockers. Usually conducted like a garage sale.
-
I see them advertised in the local paper around here and I've thought about it, but I was concerned I'd get in the business of a bunch of old furniture I had to dispose of (and no telling what else I'd need to haul off). It seems around here they may go more as a sealed bid/auction closed door unseen. I don't know that for fact just going off what I've been told....so if its a lie I didn't tell it - I just repeated it.

Me and my cousin do it together. Around here theres tons of storage places in the suburbs. They dont really advertise for the sales but they do post them, We got into it because a family friends husband works at a storage unit place. We got aware that there was a contracters unit for auction from there the rest is history. We dont buy many but we do buy a few. We have done good and bad.
We only go for the tool and equitment units thoe.

I figured I would say a little about my day today.
We went to the storage unit auction this afternoon. We didnt see much till the last 2 units. There was what appeared to be a plumbing bussniess unit from the door. So my cousin ended up bidding on them both and we won the bid. It didnt come cheap thoe.
We came accross everything for a plumbing bussniess. Drain cleaner machines ,gas powered jetter, locating system, thawing systems, cutters, electric threading machine, And every other imiganeable plumbing tool you could ask for. Along with all that we came accross a whole bunch of pvc and copper pipe. A few of them still in the strapping bundles as they were shipped. 2 pallets of Pipe insalation. A few fixtures. And Literally hundreds of boxes of un opened coppper and pvc fittings.
Craigslist here we come!

Good deal, Neil!

Thanks papaw.
Unnfortinitly I am just paid by the hour and weather we win a good unit or not it doesnt matter for me.
Just imigane I could keep all the tools, not that I would know what to do with them.

It was a morning of work. We got there about 6:00 and left about 11:00.
Me, my cousin and two other guys got it all loaded up into a 28 foot box truck also a small trailer an truckbed.
I did make away with the following
a Wacker neuson BTS 635 s. It is a 14 inch gas cuttoff saw thats well used but works perfect. I dont have much use for it but its very nice. I also have several blades for it, most for cutting concrete. What the heck am I gonna do with those. The metal cutting blades are nice, I might use thoses every now and then.
The real beast is the wacker neuson 6600 what generator on wheels. She is like new, only one small scratch on the frame.

around here they have storage sales every weekend but the local misc dealers buy most If an outsider bids the run him up. there is alocal guy that works with the dealers to clean the lockers after they take what they want the guy seems to be making money .I see him in a brand new pickup and closed trailer. bob w.

Yeh, my cousin got bid up a little on the locker. However we still won. It didnt come cheap but it was still cheap enough for a good profit to be made.
