I should know what this does, but I can remember nor can I find the part number on google.

It looks like some sort of extension spring stretcher, possibly for fitting/removing springs to brakes?

I would have to go with Batz, A spring stretcher/placer sounds good to me.

It looks quite handy too, the screwdriver handle indicates to me it gets close to the work, like brakes, otherwise it would be a T handle.

Who has not replaced brake springs on 4x4s or trucks and used a screwdriver to lever it on?..............twang!.......now where the hell did that go?

I haven't.  I use pliers or Vise Grips.  The "twang" and the "now where the hell..." are the same, though.

I concur that it's most likely an automotive tool of some kind, though I can't explain why; just feels right.

It's 2022. KD makes specialty tools for the auto repair trade, so I agree it's a car tool.

I like the brake idea, tho maybe more like keeping shoes apart while you do something else .

it's odd that the number doesn't come up on searches.
