Title: I hit the mother lode
Post by: johnsironsanctuary on May 12, 2012, 12:01:50 PM
Yesterday was the start of the annual Town of Belgium Wisconsin Garage Sale. I saw it on Craigslist.  One ad had photos of tubbysful of old wrenches. It is about 45 minutes away and I got my sleepy ass up early enough to make it before 8am. The guy is a woodworking tool collector and we may get a new member. He had dozens of tables set up in his pole shed with very reasonably priced tools. Wood handle monkey wrenches were $2-$8. I spent over an hour pawing through $.25 tubs. A nice Craftsman toolbox was $4.50. I was home by 11am with over 200 lbs of tools. I spent the rest of the day cataloging and photographing. I have a few for the whatsit column. The underlined Craftsman toolbox had a couple of good days. Thursday night I went and picked up 4 items that I bought on Ebay and the big sale yielded quite a few more. Everything in the photo is underlined except the top 3 and the vise grips. The total haul from Belgium, including the $5 Binks gun from another stop, was 130 pieces. I  was a great day with great weather.

I want to say things like, you,,,,, you,,,,, got the cream off the top or some such, but darn.   It took this guy some years to accumulate all that,  the monkeys, the Craftsman, I'm sorta in awe.   I found the worst thing to do at at flea is to buy a tool box, darn things get heavier with every step.  I see a couple of those what's its, so whats on for tomorrow?

LOVE the horn !    Is that an oil can without a spout or a hog scraper without a handle below the horn ?

Bruce the horn was a Thurs garage sale. The parts under it are a bunch of wooden clamp screws, 2 wood jaws and a half globe of wood that I don't understand.
