Title: Oil less compressor
Post by: Carl on June 27, 2012, 09:53:05 PM
Been away for a while and was catching up when I saw a post about oil less compressors and the general opinion that they are no match for the older splash- lube style. FWIW, I have an oil less compressor that is 20+ years old and still runs fine. It's put in more than a few 8 hour days and ten hour nights powering impacts, ratchets, nailguns, DA sanders, and paint sprayers.
It is noisy as hell and the neighbors hate it.
Poor maintenance is what kills compressors:  Splash-lube compressors fail because the oil gets dirty and doesn't get changed. Oil less units get killed because the air filters don't get serviced.

Tanks get killed if they are not drained after every use.
