Title: Look them all over
Post by: jimwrench on June 30, 2012, 04:08:12 PM
Bought a little box of wrenchs thurs to get a little Snap-on box rachet. Had a few old Craftsman oew's;a Thorsen and a couple of other wrenchs. Also had this adjustable which I presumed to be another two for a dollar Ford wrench which needed to be dispatched to the local auction at the first opportunity. All marking was covered with a thick layer od dirt, grease etc. Since I was cleaning the other wrenchs I decided to knock the crud off this one too. To my surprise it turned out to be a Massey-Harris MP1. Won't make my fortune but is a keeper; hence the admonition to look them all over before discarding.

Always look closely at those, sometimes they are Indian wrenches too ;)

Nice find :)

Searching, finding, and looking them (wrenches etc.) over closely is at least 75% of the fun!

Thanks for sharing.

What did you use to clean the wrench?

Is it marked on the shaft? Any words at all?

Clovis, click on picture and it will enlarge to readable size. Says (made in Canada and MH). Don't remember any other markings except star (don't have wrench in hand now so can't check.
If I did any cleaning it would have been vinegar soak followed by buffing with nylon wheel.

Thanks Jim!!!!

I'll be able to keep an eye out for different varieties now. Most of what I find are 9" Auto, and the Fords can be hard to find in my area.

Clovis:

Got clementine boxes filled with $2 Ford wrenches. What are you looking for? P.M.

Its strange here. I have the MH and a whack of auto ones but have not seen a Ford even though the Ford Spark plug/head bolt wrenches are plentiful.

I just found this Walden 3620 , it's a variant of the Ford T head bolt and spark plug wrench.
I thought I had something , but I guess there common.

Lostmind, that one isn't quite as common as you might think.
