Title: Independence Day Scores in Small Town USA!!!
Post by: keykeeper on July 04, 2012, 07:25:03 PM
Fortunately, I get the day off work for the holiday. Got to watch our Grand Parade at noon, and then after a cool off at the house (It was 96 degrees in the shade), the girls and I headed out to our local flea markets. On the way, I caught one seller with his tools setup along an empty lot. I scored all of this but the breaker bar from him. I have bought from him for about 5 years now at different events. The breaker came from the flea market, which gets smaller each year. Real shame, as the flea market was a major draw for the area.

All told, I'm in it all for $17.

Top to bottom:

-Prettiest little 8" Walworth Stillson I've ever seen. Aside from a few scuffs on the original paint on the wood....it's perfect. Doesn't look to ever seen any use.
-Four Indestro Chicago USA double box wrenches. Only need one size (1/2 x 9/16) to have a nice set. Condition better than the picture shows.
-Allstate spark plug gapper, wire type
-bunch of tiny ignition wrenches bolted together
-Unknown all in one wrench

Right side:

-Wright 1/2 breaker bar handle with the "Tootsie Roll" grip. I'm stoked to have this. It's in great shape.

I forgot to add, at my regular tool guy's booth on the first stop, he had several of the adjustable S wrenches. Just about every size, except 4 inch......He sold those two this morning....for $10 each. DOH!!! The luck of it all!!!!

Nice score.

I would like to see closer pics of the little ignition wrenches.

I may have the Indestro you are missing.  I'll try to check tomorrow.

Sumner52000: Please, do check when you get time, I'd love to have a full set. These are pretty nice wrenches, not too long, just right for the hand. I found a 5/16 x 1/4 on eBay I may bid just to get the smaller one for the set as well.

I have the 5/16 x 1/4 in my hand if you don't mind an every so slight bend in the shank (or fixing the bend).  It is yours free of charge if you'd like.

What time did you actually go to the flea market?
All the flea markets around here start at the crack of dawn and the vendors start packing up around 1 pm.
I don't even bother going to the market unless I can get there no later than 7 am. All the good stuff is gone after that.

Bunger: This flea market only happens once a year, during the week of the July 4th. They stay open until dark, most days.

When I was a kid, this was the place to go during the festivities. You never knew what you might find there. IT WAS HUGE!! Anything and everything filling a livestock market, each and every stall and open space on the outside. Probably a couple hundred vendors back in it's heyday!!!

Now, it has dwindled, (or should I say, been run under by greed) into little more than a few food vendors and about 20 vendors of anything from new chinese crap to good antique stuff. It's been in a steady decline in the last 15 years or so.

No worries, Bob. I now have a standing order with him to pick me up any of the 4" adjustable S wrenches he can find. Believe it or not, he is such a stand up guy, if he finds them, they will be waiting next time I see him!!
