Title: Davistown Museum / Tools Teach: A Resource
Post by: ron darner on October 02, 2012, 04:11:43 PM
While researching an old drill chuck, I came across a website belonging to the Davistown Museum.  It is called ToolsTeach.org, and covers just about what its name implies.  The Home Page is at http://www.toolsteach.org/index.html (http://www.toolsteach.org/index.html).  A great way to look at some of the tools they describe is at http://www.toolsteach.org/3industrialrevolution.html (http://www.toolsteach.org/3industrialrevolution.html). Scroll down to page 98, and look at Fig. 426: didn't we have one of those on here a while back?  Page 100 has a series of "Tools As Art", with some fascinating objects.
The Davistown Museum itself (in Maine) has a site at http://www.davistownmuseum.org/ (http://www.davistownmuseum.org/).  There's a newsletter called Tooling Around, and a live streaming webcam from across the street at The Liberty Tool Company.  That should indicate that this is a resource.
