Sorry guys, I know this isn't an old tool but I gotta boast....I never win a thing.
I entered the Gray Tools 100th anniversary contest in hopes of getting a T Shirt (you guys know how geeky I am over my Gray tools) and I won the fricken box!!!!
I went up to the Gray factory yesterday and met a bunch of great folks, including Mr Gray, and took the box home!

The box is a beaut...roller glides and flush faced drawers (the PR fella said it gives you 15% more drawer space) and a really nifty caster braking system.
And Mr Gray even signed the box for me. I'm such a geek, it's like getting Carroll Shelby to sign your car.

HOLY COW!!!!!
When I read that you won a box and was waiting for my slow dial up to open the pics, I figured it was just a regular box with a handle on top so you could carry it around.
As the pic opened...there were just more, and more, and more, and more, and more...and then some more drawers.
Since you won the world's largest box, will you rent the bottom half of the box to me?
-
Congratulations! That is a beauty...........signed even. Geesh, never mind box space lend me some luck.
-
Man that is a nice box
-
Brophy, you got da bomb! Congratulations!
-
Thanks guys...I gotta add: it's a North American made box. Built in Smiths Falls Ontario!!!

Nice--Now fill er up.!

That is a spiffy professional looking toolbox. Nice to see they are still made in the tall narrow size, that don't take up 9 feet of wall space. The paint, and chrome look really top notch. Going to line the drawers?
-
Going to line the drawers?
Yup...I'll probably use theatre roadcrate carpet, a thin, dense, felt like, hard wearing carpet.

Nice win!! 20+ draws? now you got to get more old tools to fill it...
-
Congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Wow, you suck!
Built in Smiths Falls Ontario!!!
This surprises me very much! Are you sure of this? Did Gray tell you this was the case?
Beach, of course, was located in Smith Falls. The company was started in 1949 , but was sold to the ESE (Evil Stanley Empire) in 1987. The ESE operated the plant until they closed operation on CANADA DAY 2008.
If your box was really made in Smith Falls, I think it would have to mean that Gray quietly purchased the old Beach plant from Stanley. I have never heard that...
Beach actually did once make boxes & cabinets for Gray - maybe even that sweet old blue handbox on your workbench - so it would be a full circle!
-
The Gray rep told me that the boxes were made in Smiths Falls by a company that was 'close' to Gray.....don't quote me I might be getting this wrong. It might be an owned company or a separate entity that has Gray as its only customer.
I mentioned Beach and they weren't aware of any relation.
We still have some family and friends in the Smiths Falls area, I'll see what I can find out.

WOW! Nice toolbox. I can't even imagine how much it will cost to fill it up. Good to hear that there are good things still made in North America.
-
Signed and all. What a score!
-
Lucky you, very nice score.
There's an Australian saying that represents me well.
If it was raining palaces I would get hit with the dunny door
Possibly lost in translation for you guys. :-)

Not so lost, this translation. Close, though slightly better off than "They'll probably drop the atom bomb the day my ship comes in."
