Title: metal pinpointing rod or locator
Post by: skylab on December 03, 2012, 11:44:42 AM
Had the outside gas line replaced at my mothers and this contractor guy used a metal rod shaped like a "L" to locate the gas line.
This rod was just a piece of metal and he was successful in finding the line with this method.  Claims the metal rod is pulled to the metal from the gas line.
Is this a bunch or BS?  What is this tools name?
Thanks

Never mind, you found out what the device was called, or never mind finding out it was a dowser was a satisfactory explanation?

Bent metal coat hangers will do the same job,  and they are free.

agreed - or any small diameter metal rod about 18-24" that you can bend a handle in.
