Title: Very Old Scroll Saw
Post by: GaryD on December 09, 2012, 11:21:50 PM
Has anyone seen a saw like this one?  It may be home made, not sure.  Not sure how it was driven, or if just operated by moving the spring loaded arm.  Got it cheap at a flee market, and may fix it up.  Any ideas or recommendations?

Looks like a well done home made scroll saw. I'd guess you simply push down on the upper arm, and the spring brings it back up.

No no no...

Don't you guys read Huck Finn?

You get your little brother to press up and down on the arm :P

It was probably foot driven.
You press down in the stirrup and that pulls the blade down to cut.
Then relax and the spring pulls it back up for the next cut.

 Very homemade, and very cool!!

Had not thought of that--Sounds like a real possibility!  Thanks
